Organic Chickens

This ration recipe was submitted by Sue of Windy Island Acres:

Windy Island Acres Ration

My recipe for 50 pounds of feed is:

5 # each millet, whole wheat, corn, oats. buckwheat and peanut pieces

12 # sunflower seed kernels (dehulled)

3 # brewers yeast

2 # dried kelp

2 # wheat bran

1 # Diatomaceous Earth

They get oyster shell free-feed in a separate container

In the winter, I will add 2# raw liver, dried, which usually ends up weighing 4-5 oz.  The liver is ground and dehydrated in a dehydrator, not in cut up into pieces.  I found that if they were actually recognizable pieces, the girls would pick it out (they love it) and those at the bottom of the pecking order wouldn't get their fair share!
